What the fans had to say:
“An excellent effort to force his way into the senior side, despite getting only a few minutes on the ground. Very consistent in the reserves, love his attack on the ball and his long kicking.” John O'Dowd
“Hard to rate due to limited games and playing time. However played well in the VFL games I saw, Ken looks to have the required attributes to play AFL footy.” Garrett Macdonald
“A steady year in the VFL and still developing. Worth another season.” Simon Remington
“Has talent, will be good to see him in action in the `Clash for the Sash' overseas.” Jeremy Barraclough
“Only got 10 minutes but showed he is a real goer. Worth persevering with as a back pocket to release Mark Johnson further up the ground.” Joe Gregory
“Hopefully can continue in the vein of our other rookies, Rioli, Johnson and Peverill. Must have something going for him to force into the seniors from the rookie list. Could be a handy find.” Stuart Deane
“With a bit of extra muscle and a few more games in the VFL Ken can expect more than one senior game in 2003.” Danny Bishop
“Coming third in the reserves B&F is good news for a player on the rise.” Lachlan Jaacks
THE WASH UP:
Essendon fans felt potential is there for Hall to make his mark in 2003 season if he works hard over the pre season. Bomber fans felt he showed great promise in the VFL and his 3rd place in the best and fairest was reflective of that.
ROBERT SHAW SAYS:
Ken has been the cornerstone of the VFL side over the past two years and probably its most consistent player. He was rewarded with promotion to the senior list midway through the season. Ken has all the attributes needed to make it at AFL level - he has excellent balance and is a particularly good kick. He has to focus intensely on his fitness during the pre-season - that is the only thing holding him back.
