The AFL has released Essendon’s fixture for the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Next year’s home and away season sees the Bombers feature in four confirmed Thursday night and Friday night games and 17 games in Victoria, highlighted by an even eight-game split at Marvel Stadium and the MCG.

The Bombers will kick off their season with an away Opening Round clash against Gold Coast at People First Stadium before three consecutive games in Melbourne.

A fixture flashback will occur in round five when the Dons take on the Dees in Gather Round – their first ever opponents in the fixture. The club will also celebrate the 25-year anniversary of the 2000 Premiership team.

Round seven’s Anzac Day clash will occur on a Friday afternoon, with the Bombers’ other marquee fixture in round 11’s Dreamtime at the ‘G also occurring on a Friday night – the first time this fixture has been moved to the weeknight primetime slot.

The Bombers will head interstate to Optus Stadium twice, and face solo trips to the Adelaide Oval, The Gabba, People First Stadium and the SCG.

Essendon will also play Geelong at the newly revamped GMHBA Stadium in round 22.

The Cats are one of six clubs which Essendon face twice in 2025, alongside Carlton, Western Bulldogs, Gold Coast, Sydney and Richmond.

CEO Craig Vozzo said the fixture announcement is an exciting one for the club’s supporter base.

“Today’s AFL fixture release presents our Bomber members and supporters with great excitement ahead of the 2025 AFL Season as we return to prime-time with eight matches across Thursday and Friday nights in the release of the first 15 rounds of footy,” Vozzo said.

“We will showcase our footy in prime-time, giving our members and fans the best chance to see the Bombers live in stadium or through the broadcast. We aspire to regularly play in front of big crowds and broadcast audiences and pleasingly, our 2025 fixture presents this opportunity.

“We’re excited to feature in the Opening Round for the first time and to playing our role in taking the game to more fans in NSW and Queensland. We encourage as many of our loyal members and supporters as possible to head to Queensland to dress the Gold Coast red and black to kick-off our season.

“We look forward to playing in our marquee games headlined by the annual ANZAC Day match against Collingwood on a Friday afternoon, Dreamtime at the G against Richmond on a Friday night for the first time, King’s Birthday Eve match against Carlton and our Round One blockbuster against arch-rivals Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night. Our annual Country Game against Geelong will be the feature of Round 14 in the attractive Saturday afternoon slot to allow our regional supporters to travel to the MCG.

“We look forward to the challenge of continuing to build our national supporter base and improving our engagement with our members and supporters who love the Bombers all across the country. It’s a great time to be a Bomber.”

Essendon’s rounds 16-24 fixture time and dates will be finalised at a later date.
