Some of what the fans had to say:

“Versatile, strong and good size, but yet to find niche in the team. May make a good half back flanker when allowed more game time, but needs to work on disposal. Ready to take the next step in 2003.” Shaun Panayi

“Forester-Knight was one of the great improvers at the club this season. He was greatly valued in the back line, particularly with Solomon and Hardwick missing.” Tambrae Maynard

“Needs more game time. Showed good improvement from last year and will press for a permanent position in the back line or as a tagger in the midfield.” David Osborne

“Played some good games and has shown could be a great tagger, with experience of course. I hope he gets more game time next year.” John Ciccaldo

“Consistent throughout and will benefit greatly from a promising 2002. If he can develop into a handy and reliable backman then it could allow Mark Johnson to move into the midfield.” Phil Cullen

“Good season overall. Needs to improve disposal by foot but looked liked he belonged by year-end. May need to quicken up over the first 10 metres. Looking forward to continued improvement.” Graham Evans

“Got a lot of games due to injury this year, however didn't get too much ground time. Robert had a couple of solid games up back but needs to build on the experience gained this year. Definitely appears to have the talent but needs to step it up a notch.” Brendan McInnes

THE WASH UP:

Essendon fans feel Forster-Knight has the potential to be a good back line player and some fans felt his efforts were underrated this season. Fans want to see him get more ground time next season in the back half and possibly in the midfield.

ROBERT SHAW SAYS:

Rob has shown himself to be a good stopper but to take the next step he has to become more like Damien Peverill – stop his player and give us some value going the other way. He must believe in himself more and be positive about the way he goes about his football. He needs to work on his kicking skills – he needs to kick longer and more effectively.
