The Andrew Welsh Auskick clinic continued in the sunshine yesterday, with eager children from all walks of life gathering on the hallowed Windy Hill oval.
Over 50 enthusiastic kids from the wider Flemington community turned out for the season’s second last Andrew Welsh Auskick clinic.
Aimed at engaging culturally and linguistically diverse youth in the Flemington area, the Andrew Welsh Auskick clinic – run in conjunction with Victoria Police – uses physical activity to help develop social skills and healthy living in young children through fun, football related activities.
The afternoon festive fun included trainings and match-practice on the Windy Hill oval before the children were treated to a guided tour of the Essendon Football Club. Following the exciting inner-sanctum experience, the children were given insights into how elite athletes train and prepare.
Essendon Football Club is proud to continue its commitment to the Flemington community by delivering the Andrew Welsh Auskick clinic, made possible by the support of Victoria Police and Yakult.

Football has always been Scott Gumbleton’s first love and the Bombers big man is looking forward to getting over some debilitating injuries and playing some great football in season 2012. But, as almost all players on AFL lists do, Scott is also preparing for life after football and has been undertaking work and study away from the Club.
