Essendon star Nathan Lovett-Murray is known to Bombers supporters as a crafty playmaker and speedster, and now his unique talents are being recognised among the wider community.

Lovett-Murray has received a nomination for the 2010 Deadly Awards in the ‘Outstanding Achievement in AFL’ category.

The Deadly Awards serve to recognise those who make a resounding difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders every day.

They also recognise the life changing impact that is not measured by an individual’s celebrity status, but by their hard won contribution and effort.

Lovett-Murray’s dedication off the field is just as strong as it is on the field. In 2006, he established his own record label, Payback Records, to help raise the profile of indigenous hip-hop in Australia.

Along with music, Lovett-Murray has also worked to raise awareness about indigenous health, through his travels to remote areas of Australia and South Africa.

The Deadly Awards will be held at the Sydney Opera House on the 27th September 2010, and will be broadcast live via SBS.
