Windy Hill will come alive tonight as Essendon Football Club hosts the 10th annual Moonee Valley Relay for Life.
The 24-hour relay event which raises vital funds for the Cancer Council Victoria’s cancer research, education and patient support programs is more than just a fundraiser – it is an opportunity to get together with your community and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
As a special initiative aiming to raise additional funds for the fight against cancer, Essendon’s business partner, NAB, have kindly donated eight AFL function tickets to Essendon’s Round 13 home game against Carlton on Friday 26 June which will be auctioned at the event.
The live auction of the tickets will take place on Saturday 28th February at 5.15pm prior to the closing ceremony of the event. Essendon Football Club is encouraging supporters to come along and be a part of the auction and support the fundraising initiative.
NAB is one of over 50 teams taking part in the event which last year raised over $250,000 for the Cancer Council Victoria’s work in the fight against cancer.
The official opening of the event will be the Candlelight Ceremony which will be held at 9pm tonight.
Musical entertainment will come in the form of Pearl Cowboys, Piero, Pocket Money and Darryl Cotton & Co as well as a live DJ. There will be loads of activities to keep the kids amused with Clowns, Jumping Castles and Face Painting.
People not already registered for the event, or part of a team, are still most welcome to take part in the weekend’s activities. All people need to do is visit the registration desk upon arrival at Windy Hill.
