Essendon ruckman David Hille says he is proud to have signed a new two-year deal with the Bombers which will see him secured by the club until the end of the 2012 season.

""This contract will see me stay at the Bombers until I am 31-years-old,"" he said.

""That will be 13 years at the one club which is something I am proud of.

""I am one of the senior guys now and it's good to be able to help the young guys develop during this period of transition at the club.

""We are lookling to develop a team that can compete in September and it’s a good time to be at Essendon.""

The 28-year-old (he turns 29 next month) said that he is improving by the week after suffering a serious knee injury in the Anzac Day game last year.

""I am feeling pretty good,"" he said.

""I am feeling really confident in my body and that confidence will only grow as the season goes on.""

General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton described Hille as one of the premier big men in the competiton.

""While we understand he is still recovering from his knee injury, we think there are some really good signs that he is coming along well,"" Hamilton said.

""He is an important player for us structurally without any doubt but he also provides strong leadership that is certainly required at the club.

""He is improving by the week and is getting back to the form he enjoyed before his knee injury and we are happy with his progress.

""Hille is an important player for us and people probably forget he won our best and fairest in 2008. He is a player that has a real presence out there on the ground.""

Jobe Watson - who has just signed a three-year deal - recently congratulated Hille and Michael Hurley on their new contracts on his Twitter.

""Unfortunately I am stuck with Hille for at least another two-years, congrats to him and Hurls, great to see,"" Watson said.
