Last week’s poll posed the question: ‘Should the Bombers move from Windy Hill if it means better training facilities?’ and over 66% of voters said 'no', 27% voted 'yes' and 5% picked 'maybe'.
Here’s what some Bomber fans had to say last week:
Albert from Essendon says: NO WAY!!! We must stay at Bomberland.
Nicole Watson from Torquay says: It would be really sad if we had to move, but then if we need better facilities to stay competitive, I'd rather be competitive!
Jeremy from Victoria says: Windy Hill is the heart and soul of Essendon for years!!!! No for me!!
Bomberfan 85 from Wantirna says: Essendon and Windy Hill hold a lot of history, why can't the lawn bowls be re-allocated. Without Windy Hill it would feel like all Essendon's history is lost.
Charlie Taylor from Bayswater, Victoria says: I would undoubtedly love to stay at Windy Hill as the first option and create an elite facility for the EFC second to none in the AFL ... BUT if that is not achievable at Windy Hill and can be done better elsewhere, then without doubt we should move on and create a ""Lexus Centre"" of our own where ever the best location for the club can be established. The future of the club & team is more important than a spiritual home that is below standard. Be the BEST BOMBERS!!!
Mawbz from N.S.W. says: wherever we go we will always be the Bombers, red N` black, Windy Hill is our home but if we need the best reach out and take it!
Debbie Kelly from Brunswick says: I do not support EFC kicking out the bowls club or any other club! Get another architect!
Jason from Lynbrook, Vic says: While my heart is at Windy Hill, realistically, how many supporters now go there? I'd like to see everything done to stay there, but ultimately our home ground is in the Docklands and we need the best facilities for our team.
Ciaran Broderick from Craigieburn, Victoria says: Not unless they have to
Stuart Scott from Kilsyth - Victoria says: There has been very little detail other than we are falling behind other clubs. Where are we falling behind other clubs, how is this rated? North Melbourne won 2 GFs with less than almost every club. The success of a team is what brings fans, membership and the want of new players to play for Essendon. I hope this is not a case of management seen to be doing something. Please supply more details. There must be solid reasons for such a move, none of which have been stated clearly as yet. Thank you.
Marco De Luca from Lalor says: if it is better for the club and the players, then yes the club should move. Go Bombers.
Daniel Waight from Aireys Inlet says: Moving from our spiritual home at Windy is the last thing we need at the moment. An upgrade of the facilities is all that is required.
Mark from Jacana says: Don’t do it. Isn’t it enough that we no longer have a home ground advantage? Why don’t you just rip our hearts out as well?
Duncan from South Melbourne says: Obviously no one true to the EFC wants to see us move, and I don't doubt that everyone from both the club and the community aren't working towards a resolution that keeps them there, but if moving to a match-day sized ground with better facilities to aid and improve the talent we have come game time I doubt there's much that will be able to get in the way to stop it from happening. We may regret the move but no one would begrudge the success (potentially).
Hope from Eltham, Victoria says: They chiefs at Essendon are thinking bigger than their boots because Collingwood has gone to make the change, Carlton spent the money thanks to Mr Pratt to build on their home ground but not too long ago did the players have very cold showers at Carlton and interstate clubs have it somewhat better in a two club town. We are not like the Americans with owners who have billions to spend. Maybe we need better management to think and source better ways to use and improve what we've got that could be amazing. They are treating Windy hill like an old toaster, lasted two years and they have better new shinny ones out.
Chris Flynn from Mooroolbark Victoria says: If it’s for the greater good of players and club, Yes.
Jerry from WA says: considering the amount of money EFC has spent at windy hill, would it be wise or profitable to move?
Anne Lambe from Forest Hill says: Bombers = Windy Hill = Essendon, spare a thought for the supporter/member/fan who finds it easier to get to Windy Hill by train rather than any other means of transport!!! Keep that in mind as well!!! There is no train to Latrobe.
