Essendon will be looking to bolster its midfield in the upcoming free agency period if the right player is available.

Assistant coach Simon Goodwin said the clubwould look at a number of options as to how the Bombers could continue to develop the midfield.

“We will look at every player that comesacross our table,” Goodwin said.

“It does take time and you need to be patientin that area so any sort of experienced guy that we might be able to get ourhands on we will certainly look at.

“We are very comfortable with where ourmidfield is at, we think we are developing as a midfield group and we have somereally good talent coming into that area with guys like Zaharakis, Melksham andHeppell.”

Essendon has been linked to a number of outof contract midfielders including Brendon Goddard, Brent Moloney and Josh Caddysince the end of the season.

Goodwin said the upcoming free agencyperiod was an exciting time for clubs looking to build their list.

“Free agency is a real new dynamic in whatyou are looking for,” he said on SEN radio.

“You can really start to pin point andtarget players that are going to fit your needs and there is a few guys on themarket that would certainly appeal to us.”

“It’s going to be an interesting period andsomething that the AFL industry hasn’t seen before.”

Despite trying to do a deal with the GoldCoast for Caddy last year the Bombers were unable to land the young midfielder.

“Ithink last year we showed we are pretty keen on him, he is a big bodiedmidfielder who was pick seven in the national draft,” Goodwin said.

“He is certainly someone that we will lookat but you have to be able to find the right deal.”

The free agency period begins on October 1.
