We asked our Engine Room members in our ‘In The Outer’ segment to tell us what they thought of the Bombers' recent performance in London. Most agreed that it was an excellent chance for the younger players to put their hand up a run against more experienced AFL senior players. On the whole Essendon supporters were disappointed with what they wtinessed.

""I understand that was not our best team but we all expect more out of the Bombers. It did however show off a few of the younger guys and I think there is a fair bit of talent in the squad. Watch out for these players,"" Jess Carmichael said.

A number of fans felt that the Essendon players were very much in ""exhibition match mode"". But they also felt there was a standard of professionalism that should be maintained.

""If it was not for Rioli, McGrath and one or two others it would have not been a contest and a blight on our club. If the players have no interest in these end of season demonstration matches, then it is better for the Club to decline the opportunity to play than the embarrassment of last Saturday night. ""The positives were the form of Heffernan and James Davies showed some class and defensive skills with his tagging role. Marc Bullen, Ken Hall & Hille all showed a bit. I was looking forward to seeing O'Keefe play but he did not front. All in all pretty forgettable effort probably due to too much Guinness!!! David Beasley
