It is a bitter pill for Hird to swallow in what may be his last season of AFL football. In the final practice match of the pre-season Hird was in superb form and was clearly the best player on the ground against Richmond in MIldura.
Courtney Johns will also miss this weekend with a minor ankle injury. The problem isn't serious and he is expected to be available for the Bombers' round 2 clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.
The AFL has now confirmed ticketing arrangements for the Anzac Day blockbuster between Essendon and Collingwood. Tickets will be available to club (18 game) members from 9.00am Friday 31st March, AFL Full and Silver members from 9.00am on Saturday 1st April, and the general public (including 11 game Essendon members) from 9.00am on Monday 3rd April.
