Essendon Captain, Brendon Goddard, will wear a microphone for Channel 7 during Friday night’s coverage of the Bombers game against Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium.
It is part of a raft of initiatives the club has implemented to provide fans with an ‘inner sanctum’ match-day experience.
Channel 7 will host their pre-game and half time shows from the Essendon change rooms and John Worsfold’s half time address will be shown along with pre-game, half time and post game interviews with senior players.
And in an AFL first fans who attend the match won’t miss out on the exclusive coverage, with Channel 7’s ‘inner sanctum’ access broadcast live on the big screen.
“It’s a pretty good initiative by the footy club, Friday night footy is pretty rare for us this year,” Goddard said.
“There are a few things going on behind the scenes with Channel 7, to give the viewers more insight to what goes on behind the scenes.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to hold back (being mic’d up). I think I’ve done it once before, that will be interesting.”
ABC Radio’s pre-game show will also be broadcast live from rooms as well and will feature Worsfold, Joe Daniher and Guy McKenna.
Injured defender Michael Hartley will take over the club’s twitter account, live tweeting from the pre-game right throughout the night.
The Bombers new warm-up routine will take place on the ground, giving fans the opportunity to see
first hand how the players prepare.
An additional 2000 general admission tickets at $25 for Friday night’s game to encourage attendance.
