Matt Guelfi will miss the next 10-12 weeks, set to undergo surgery early next week to repair an injured hamstring.
The 27-year-old reinjured his hamstring during training last week, following a previous strain sustained just prior to the Christmas break.
After consultation with the Club’s medical team, it was decided that immediate surgery would be the best course of action.
“’Guelf’ was progressing well in the rehab of the injury he sustained pre-Christmas, so it’s really disappointing to see him suffer another setback,” GM – AFL Daniel McPherson said.
“He’d spent part of his off-season visiting soft-tissue specialists in the USA, and together with our medical team was implementing what he’d learnt overseas into his pre-season program, so it’s frustrating that he hasn’t been able to get a clean run at it to this point.
“Whilst surgery will keep him sidelined for the next few months, we’re confident we’ll get to see ‘Guelf’ back out there playing plenty of strong footy for us this season.”
The Dons’ first practice match of the 2025 season is slated for Saturday, February 15 against the Bulldogs at Whitten Oval.
