Essendon captain Jobe Watson paid a visit to a very special young Bomber fan at the Monash Children’s Hospital on Wednesday.
Jobe and teammate Alex Browne were personally touched by the story of six-year-old Xavier Tilley, who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in January.
The pair made a visit to young Xavier yesterday afternoon following training.
“Xavier was lucky to have a visit from his favourite player Jobe Watson and also Alex Browne. For those that know him, they would realise that this meant so much to Xavier as he is a massive Essendon fan,” Bec Tilley, mother of Xavier said.
“To have the boys come and spend two hours of their time with him was such a fantastic thing for them to do.
“We can’t thank Jobe and Alex enough for giving their time to Xavier and for not only making his day, but probably his year.”
In support of Xavier and raising funds for cancer research, Cameron Mayne will embark on a remarkable pushbike journey covering 813kilometers from Lotus in New South Wales to Rosedale in Victoria from March 31 to April 5.
