Essendon will introduce two more new recruits this Sunday with Mathew Stokes and James Kelly picked to play in the match against West Coast.
The former Geelong premiership players have been building up their fitness base in recent weeks after coming out of retirement to join the Bombers.
Coach John Worsfold said Stokes would add to his forward line mix.
“He’ll play as a small forward, he’s a really hard running and classy and talented player,” Worsfold said.
“He reads the game really well, he’ll play in the forward line and play a role to help us generate a score.”
Kelly was a key figure in three Geelong premierships and has the versatility and guile to fill a number of roles.
“James has been great to have a round the Club,” Worsfold said.
“He’s a very level headed guy with great experience.
“He’ll play through the midfield and maybe across half-back at different times as well.
“He uses the ball really well and we’ll be rapt to see him out there.”
The Bombers have picked a strong squad for the match against the Eagles.
While the Dons spread their most senior players out across the first two games, they’re reunited for the final NAB Challenge match.
Brendon Goddard, Mark Baguley, Zach Merrett, David Zaharakis, Joe Daniher, James Gwilt and Adam Cooney are all in the squad for the game against the Eagles.
“It’s their first hit out together so we’re excited about that,” Worsfold said.
