Namatjira, a master at capturing the Australian outback in rich watercolours, and his celebrated work became a suburban favorite for gracing living rooms across the country.
Recently, descendants of Namatjira visited the Essendon Football Club and were greeted by indigenous Bombers star Nathan Lovett- Murray.
Lenie Namatjira’s, granddaughter of the respected artist and Bombers’ fan, said she was grateful for the opportunity to visit the club alongside Lovett-Murray.
“I can’t wait to tell my grandson back in Ntaria (Hermannsburg) that I had the opportunity to visit Windy Hill. He’ll be so excited that we saw the players train,” Namatjira said.
