Destiny in our own hands
Essendon's fate is in its own hands after other results went its way last night. The Bombers are back in the eight on percentage after Fremantle and the Kangaroos lost to St Kilda and Brisbane respectively. Essendon will remain in the final eight unless it loses today's game against the Western Bulldogs by 23 points or more.

As it stands, Essendon will play Melbourne in an Elimination Final at the MCG next weekend. But that will rely on victory or a narrow loss against the resurgent Bulldogs. The Bulldogs ran the Kangaroos off their feet last weekend and the Bombers will be well aware of their improved form.
Today could be a memorable day for the Bombers should it secure a finals berth. Essendon supporters will also have the chance to farewell one of their retiring champions when favourite son Joe Misiti does a lap of honour at 1.40pm.
