""Both sides are quite balanced in terms of experience and youth. Probably at the moment you’d have to say St Kilda’s younger players are perhaps better than ours,"" he said.
""But their experienced players are playing right up to their best – they have been very, very good. I’m talking about Thompson coming off the bench and Powell. Robert Harvey in the grand final of the Wizard Cup was sensational. Aussie Jones and Gehrig – they’re playing very well.""
The Bombers received a minor setback at training this morning, when Jason Johnson aggravated a ""corky"" in his thigh. ""He got a knee in the back of his thigh last week that really slowed him up and it’s just unfortunate that he just strained it a bit this morning. Rather than take a risk, we’re leaving him out,"" Sheedy said.
""Jason’s form hadn’t been great and he was really looking forward to this match to really play well so it’s a bit of bad luck for him,"" he said. Sheedy is hopeful the injury will sideline Johnson for one to two weeks and said he will have scans to confirm the damage.
Former Bulldog Mark Alvey replaces Johnson in the selected side. Alvey returns from a year on the sidelines with a knee reconstruction. A trademark of Alvey’s game is his ball winning ability and lightening pace, so he will add to the mid-field stocks tomorrow night. ""It is a bonus, because we are not bringing in a first game player, we are brining in a 50 game player.""
