Injury-prone Darcy Daniher says his body is in perfect condition just days away from commencing what will be his first full pre-season at the club next week.

Back, groin and shoulder injuries have limited the 21-year-old’s opportunities at senior level since being drafted to the Bombers with selection 39 in the 2007 AFL National Draft but Daniher is confident his luck will change this season.

“This will be the first full pre-season which will be nice. Hopefully I can remain injury free the whole time and have a big season,” Daniher told Bomber.tv.

“I am 100% injury free at the moment and my body is feeling really healthy so I’ll be ready for day one of the pre-season.”

Son of former Bomber great, Anthony Daniher and nephew to Terry, Neale and Chris, Daniher said he hoped his extra training over the off-season would set him in good stead for a big year.

“I really wanted to get my fitness up to give myself every opportunity this year,” Daniher said.

“I think I am ready for a big pre-season and looking forward to seeing what Hirdy will be able to provide the playing group.”

Daniher promises to be a versatile player capable of holding down key posts at either end of the ground.

Returning from a month overseas in the Greek Islands, Spain and Germany with team-mate Cale Hooker, Daniher said he was looking forward to getting started.

“I guess I am just ready to get out there and looking forward to getting stuck into things on the training track,” Daniher said.

“We obviously have a lot of work to do as a playing group to improve to a level where we are competitive against the top sides but I know that everyone is committed to the task and really looking forward to it.”

Daniher made his debut for Essendon against Port Adelaide in Round 7 of 2008, playing three games for the season. He added another three games to his tally in 2009 but did not play at senior level in 2010 due to injury.
