Bomber fans breathed a sigh of relief tonight at the Queen Elizabeth Oval, with Essendon champion James Hird cleared of any major injury after limping off the ground early in the third quarter after receiving a kick to the calf.
In last week’s practice match, the Bombers won comfortably against the Swans at Optus Oval. But due to the stifling conditions, and a game restricted to shortened quarters it was a match where it was difficult to take too much from the result.
