Essendon fans have praised Mark Johnson for his workrate and attack on the football this year but hope to see him perform with more consistency next season.

After recording a sensational 8.18 in 2005, his ranking dropped to 6.40 in 2006 and then to 5.12 this year. However with a full pre-season under his belt in 2008, Bomber fans hope to see Johnson back at his best next year.

What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

He bleeds red and black each week. (David Meredith)

Mark has been a very good player for Essendon for a long time. This year he slowed down a bit and did turnover the ball too often, but I would not give up on him yet. Have a good 2008 MJ! (Didier Legall)

Mark Johnson always performs better in the second half of the year. He is a good all rounder who adds toughness and is a good goal sneak. (Melinda Haycraft)

Always tried hard, but lacks pace. (Trevor De Kievit)

Good hard competitor, both forward and back. We need more like him. (Max Rodwell)

Not a bad season overall but would like to see Mark play further forward more often as he has the ability to kick a bag of goals up there! I feel his talent is wasted on the backline. (Shaun Turner)

Another solid year for Johno. Worked tirelessly to get a result. I'm surprised he was dropped for the last couple of games, particularly West Coast. (Mark Atkinson)
