The Essendon Football Club yesterday met with West Coast superstar Chris Judd at Windy Hill to discuss the 2008 season and the future direction of the Bombers.

Managing Director, Peter Jackson, was joined by Captain, Matthew Lloyd, recently retired champion, James Hird, and senior club officials to discuss why a move to Essendon would be good for the former Brownlow medalist.

""We wanted to promote the Club and discuss why playing for Essendon would be the best thing for him. We spoke about the strong culture and future vision for the Bombers,"" Jackson said.

""From James Hird's point of view he spoke about how you could be a top level player at the Club but could still concentrate on playing footy. He said that the Bombers don't want individual stars to carry the brand and its marketing so you can come in here and concentrate on playing good footy and also enjoy yourself.

""He also spoke about the excellent networks that Essendon have and the potential to develop yourself in other areas.

""Matthew Lloyd spoke strongly about the playing list and what the culture of the Club meant to him. He also spoke about the players' strong desire to succeed.

""Basically, yesterday's meeting was simply a chance to discuss with Chris what we have to offer and to make sure he knows about the club and where it's heading.

""We did not speak about money or deals with West Coast. Chris now needs to tell us if he wants to play here before we do that so there is still alot of water to go under the bridge.""

The champion midfielder was also taken for a tour of Windy Hill and told about redevelopment plans that are currently underway.
