Essendon scholarship player Nick Ryan has been awarded the 2011 AFL Sydney NAB Rising Star.
Ryan has been a part of the club’s New South Wales scholarship program for two years and played for the NSW/ACT RAMS in the NAB AFL U’18 National Championships this year, as a key forward and ruckman.
Essendon senior recruiting co-ordinator Merve Keane said the 19 year old thoroughly deserved the award.
“Nick has a marvellous attitude to football and is an extremely well balanced and talented player,” Keane said.
“He is an intelligent and motivated young man with a competitive edge and a huge appetite to learn and improve.”
Ryan is a member of the James Hird Academy and has been making regular visits to the Club in the past two seasons.
