In February this year, the Essendon Football Club hosted the 2007 Moonee Valley Relay For Life at Windy Hill. The 24 hour relay event was held in conjunction with the volunteer committee which organises the event each year to raise funds for The Cancer Council Victoria.
Performing artists this year included BABBA and Daryl Cotton were part of 14 hours of stage entertainment which were a real hit with over 1,000 participants from over 50 teams who helped raise in excess of $220,000 for The Cancer Council Victoria.
Adam Ramanauskas was given the esteemed role of event patron and was proud to cut the ribbon which kicked off the traditional cancer survivor and carer’s first lap.
Adam also spoke of his own experience at the candlelight ceremony which is held to remember those who we’ve lost to cancer, support those who are fighting cancer, and provide hope that we as a community can one day be cancer free.
Essendon Football Club will meet with Chris Judd later this week in a bid to convince him that Windy Hill should become his next home. But that will only be the first hurdle with Essendon then having to arrange a suitable trade with the Eagles.
