Star Bomber Mark Mercuri is almost certain to line-up for the Bombers in this weekend's Grand Final against Brisbane. Mercuri rolled an ankle against Hawthorn in last weekend's Preliminary Final and spent most of the day on the bench as a result. Since Saturday Mercuri has been receiving intensive physiotherapy and he also spent time in a hyperbaric chamber today to speed up the healing process. Essendon Football Manager Matthew Drain said the signs are good at this stage of the week. ""The swelling in his ankle is no longer noticeable so that would indicate that his recovery is progressing well,"" Drain said.
A scan was done on Mercuri's ankle yesterday which confirmed he had no bone or ligament damage. ""The first 48 hours after an ankle injury are critical and all indications are that he is progressing well,"" Drain said. ""We did a running session this afternoon and Mark actually did some light running and that is a very positive sign. We are confident he will play.""
