Not only was McPhee very handy for the Bombers up forward on the weekend he also did a serviceable defensive job on West Coast's Andrew Embley. Embley has been one of West Coast's leading possession gatherers this season and McPhee kept him reasonably quiet with 17 disposals. ""I had a job to do on Andrew Embley and he has been in pretty good form - he kicked four against Collingwood. I had to try and get him out of the game as well and then when we had the opportunity to go forward I had to try and hurt him the other way.""
Matthew Lloyd returned from injury on the weekend and booted six goals. McPhee said you can't put a value on havingLloyd as a marking target in the forward 50m. ""It just encourages me to run forward knowing that we have a good target down there that is always going to bring the ball to ground. If I get there in front of him or other players we have a chance to score. With Matthew down there and other quality players we have a lot of fire power and we had a lot of inside 50s against West Coast which is crucial in a game.""
The Bombers have five wins on the board now and McPhee said although the win against West Coast was one of his best in his short time at the club it is time to focus on Sydney next week. ""It was a good win against West Coast but now we have a tough game against Sydney. They have been in good form. We will probably go up there with our backs against the wall again. It will be an exciting game to play,"" the former Fremantle player said.
