The Essendon AGL Family Day was in full swing today as more than 4000 fans braved the warm weather at Windy Hill, hoping to grab a glimpse of their favourite Essendon players before the 2006 season begins.

In a Family Day that was bigger and better than ever, Essendon supporters were able to come along and get up close and personal with the team, testing their skills in handball and kick-to-kick competitions.

While young players in the making were able to come along and get their boots specially fitted by some of Essendon’s finest.

A highlight of the day was Bomber fans watching the entire team receive their 2006 Guernseys from Sheedy and hear some of the player’s aspirations for the coming season. Some lucky Essendon fans even had the opportunity assist in the presentation.

There was plenty of fun and entertainment for all ages with a number of Essendon’s affiliated sporting clubs giving those in attendance the opportunity to lawn bowl with Essendon players or have the speed of their tennis serve measured.

There were also hockey, cricket and athletics displays, giving supporters a chance to see how they fared at other sports.
