Essendon players were last night put through a short 45-minute training session on a rain-soaked Windy Hill.

The players warmed up and did some "in-close" ball work indoors before hitting the track.

The recent cold snap has left the Windy Hill surface sodden and coaching staff did not want to risk players in the slippery conditions for longer than was neccessary.

The good news for the Bombers was the Dean Wallis trained very well and he looks certain to return to the senior side.

Wallis missed last week's match with St Kilda because of a calf complaint but he moved freely throughout last night's session.

Jason Johnson, who suffered a broken nose against St Kilda, also trained strongly and he is certain starter this weekend.

Dean Rioli, completed another full training session and he continues to work towards a return to football - possibly in three weeks time.
