Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson has today informed the club that he has been contacted by the company searching for a replacement for outgoing AFL chief executive Wayne Jackson. ""I felt I should clarify my position in light of recent media speculation and subsequent enquiries. I had a brief discussion over the telephone with the company after they contacted me,"" Jackson said this afternoon. ""The matter of whether or not I apply for the position or am considered for the position will however remain a private matter. At this stage I do not intend to make any further public comment on the matter.""
