When you think about hard working, consistent Essendon players you think about Damien Peverill.

The 29-year-old retired from the Bombers at the end of this season after 144 games with the club.

And the fans were happy with what they saw giving him a 6.19/10 for his 10-game season down from 6.43/10 when he played 19-games in 2007.

Peverill was taken by Essendon in the 2000 rookie draft.

This is what the fans had to say about Peverill’s 2008 season:

Joshua Little - Actually didn't do that bad in his last season with the Dons. Thought he might of done enough to keep his spot with great games against Collingwood and Melbourne. Well done on a great career.

Rob Apostoloski - It’s been an honour to watch you play for the red and black. You were hard and always gave 100%. Good luck Pev!!

Dean Liersch - Played honest footy like he did for his entire career.

Lachlan McLean - Had a magnificent season and was unlucky to be delisted. He will be missed at Essendon, but easily has another five years left in him for another club.

Mathew Kenna - Made the best from limited opportunities. A great servant of the EFC.

Rodney Broadbent - Pev had limited opportunities and I think he used them to the benefit of the team. A great player who always gets the ball.

Margaret Low - Only started to play well when he could see the writing on the wall that he was no longer a required player.

Jan Lovegrove - Always been one of my favourites over his time at Essendon, and more so the past few years, with consistent effort and toughness.

Shane Martin - Great servant of the club. Will be missed.

Catherine Harkin - Told that he wouldn't be likely to get a game; he forced his way into the side and played an important role for us.

Tony Chen - was superb when in the side should have got another year though.

Brad North - When he got into the side, he did the job. A big reason we were able to string some wins together after the break. At any other club he would have been given another year. I hope to see Pev playing AFL somewhere in 2009.

Natalie Young - You couldn't ask for anymore than what he does. Going to miss him greatly. Good Luck in the future Peverill!!!

Alok O'Brien - Amazing year considering. Well done Pev, gave others a good look at what sheer determination can do.

Nicholas Loschiavo - As tough as nails, had a great career, well done Pev!

Steven Rowe - Just a down to earth hard worker, should not have given the flick, BAD BAD decision.

Fahmid Ahmed - One of my favourites but unfortunately Pev is a victim of our youth policy. Was one of our better players in the second half of season - all the best in the future!!
