Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy commented yesterday at training that Lloyd is close to his career best form. ""I think Lloyd is playing as good as what he has - he has kicked 17 in recent weeks, which is a good effort,"" Sheedy said. ""Lloyd has really worked hard at his goal kicking. It has been difficult to score goals this season at the construction end of the MCG. I am not sure what the goal tally and the point tally and the out of bounds tally is but I would think it is a fair bit. Some of Matthew's goals have been fantastic this season.""
Lloyd will have his work cut out for him this Saturday against Fremantle. Dockers fullback Robert Haddrill has been in outstanding form of late. However, Lloyd will take confidence into the match against Fremantle considering he has kicked 17 goals in his past two outings and booted five goals against Fremantle in Round 6 this season at Subiaco. Lloyd has also had good support this season from new recruit Damian Cupido. Cupdio missed the Round 6 match earlier in the season with a shoulder injury and will be looking to show Fremantle what he is capable of.
Cupido will carry solid form and confidence into Saturday's match. The 21-year-old booted three goals against Richmond and also was responsible for setting up a number of other forward attacks. Sheedy has been happy with the former Brisbane players form this season and his contribution of 34 goals. ""I think that Damian just needed time on the field and time without injury. In genuine ability and talent he has a lot to offer and he is going to be a very good player in the coming years if he gets his whole game together,"" Sheedy said.
