Essendon big man Patrick Ryder will be on the sidelines for the next three weeks and Nick Kommer two weeks after accepting sanctions from the Match Review Panel.

Ryder has accepted a three-week ban with an early guilty plea for rough conduct against Luke McPharlin during the first quarter against Fremantle on Friday night.

Kommer will miss the next two weeks after an early guilty plea for rough conduct against Kepler Bradley.

General Manager of Football Danny Corcoran said the pair would not be challenging the bans.

“It is disappointing to lose both players but they were clear cut decisions from the Match Review Panel and we will not be challenging them,” Corcoran said.

“We have some great depth amongst our team at the moment and there are a number of players that have been knocking down the door for selection in the VFL over the last few weeks.

Ryder’s incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points), with an existing bad record his penalty was increased to 491 demerit points before an early guilty plea reduces the sanction to 368.25 points and a three match sanction.

Kommer’s incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points), drawing 325 demerit points his sanction is reduced to 243.75 points and a two match sanction with an early guilty plea.
