The re-match is set between the Essendon Footballers and the Australian Test cricketers in this year’s 3 mobile Six-a-side Showdown - and this time the Aussies want revenge! Last year the Bombers took the honours winning the action packed match by one run, but in 2005 the Aussies want to level the score when the star-studded teams do battle on Thursday December 22nd at Windy Hill.
Desperate for victory, the Australian cricketers have drafted in local legends Merv Hughes and Dean Jones to provide extra support to Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist as part of their six-man line up, for the Bombers Matthew Lloyd and James Hird will lead the team in the 90 minute showdown.
And preparations have already started in earnest at Windy Hill.
""The wickets have come out in the change rooms, the blokes are trying to impress with their bowling or batting. So there are a few guys vying for selection,"" Essendon’s captain Matthew Lloyd explained.
""We have found out a few chinks in the armour of Warne and Gilchrist and those guys from last year, but we can’t reveal them until game day. Jones and Hughes are two of the best sledgers going around so we might have to pick an experienced side to combat those guys.""
