Essendon’s full playing list will return to training on Monday without captain Jobe Watson and star duo Brendon Goddard and Dustin Fletcher.
The trio is currently at a training camp in Sydney ahead of Saturday night’s International Rules test between Australian and Ireland in Perth.
The remainder of the club’s playing group will return to the track to join the club’s first to fourth year players who have already been training for the past fortnight.
New recruits Adam Cooney, James Gwilt and Jonathan Giles will officially meet their new teammates for the first time during their first day at the True Value Solar Centre.
The group will take part in intensive testing over the first two days of their return as the club’s high performance team ensure the players have returned in top condition.
It will be the first time the full playing group has officially been together since the club’s disappointing 12-point elimination final loss to North Melbourne.
After that lost most of the senior players talked publicly about the result being a springboard for a strong pre-season campaign.
The players will take to the track for a light skills session on Monday before a more intensive training session later in the week.
Newly appointed goal kicking coach Matthew Lloyd will be on hand for his first session working with the club’s young forward line.
Lloyd will work closely with Jake Carlisle, Joe Daniher and Patrick Ambrose to aim at improving their routine in front of goal.
All eyes will be on big man Tom Bellchambers to see how he returns, with the 25-year-old set for an enhanced role this year following Patrick Ryder’s departure form the club.
