Essendon Football Club is excited to announce the signing of former Brisbane midfielder James Polkinghorne for the 2015 VFL season.
Polkinghorne will return to Victoria after agreeing to a new deal with the club following seven seasons with the Lions.
The 25-year-old played 94 matches for Brisbane between 2008-2014 and is set to add important experience to the Bombers VFL side.
VFL General Manager Matt Little said it was pleasing Polkinghorne had chosen to continue his football career with Essendon.
“James is a really important addition to our list for the 2015 season bringing both class and experience to our side,” Little said.
“He is an exciting player who has shown an ability to have an impact around stoppages with his fierce contested attack on the footy.”
“The addition of James is important for our midfield group but he also possesses the ability to be dangerous moving forward in front of goal.”
Polkinghorne is the sixth Bomber to sign on with the club’s VFL list joining Marcus Miragliani, Daniel Coghlan, Alex Hickey, Liam Byrne and Sam Heavyside to have already signed.
