Brent Stanton and Patrick Ryder headline four inclusions for Essendon’s match against Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Stanton, Ryder, Elliott Kavanagh and Jackson Merrett have been bought back into the team at the expense of Nathan Lovett-Murray, Alwyn Davey (hamstring), Scott Gumbleton (rested) and Kyle Hardingham.

Stanton missed last week’s match against Geelong with a groin strain while Ryder is returning after serving a three-match suspension and having a week off due to selection pressure from Gumbleton.

Hird said it was exciting to have Ryder back in the team for this week’s match.

“It will be fantastic to have him back with his marking ability and also his work in the ruck,” Hird told BomberTV.

“We are really looking forward to this week against Brisbane, I thought our performance against Geelong last week was ok but we didn’t take our chances.”
