HENNEMAN AT HOME ON THE RIVER

Rising star Aaron Henneman swapped his football boots for water-skis yesterday at the Moomba Masters. An accomplished waterskier - he grew up in Cobram and spent most of his childhood skiing on the Murray - Henneman was invited to ski in the celebrity challenge. In sunny conditions, a nervous Henneman took to the water and impressed spectators - skiing slalom through the competitors course on the Yarra River.
Channel Seven personalities and other sponsors also took part in the event. ""I was really nervous to begin with but loved it out there. I have always wanted to ski on the Yarra so it was a fantastic opportunity. I wanted to have a go on the ski jump, but I don't think Sheeds would have been too happy seeing me travelling 60m in the air,"" Henneman said.
Henneman achieved an impressive three buoys out of six - an extraordinary effort for someone who had never been through a slalom course before. World Jump Champion and overall World Ski Champion - Jaret Llewellyn even congratulated Henneman on his skiing performance.
It is a positive sign when a coach has a number of talented options for a key position. Essendon is in the fortunate position of having a number of quality players capable of slotting into centre half back - a position that is one of the most important on the ground. A number of players were rotated through centre half back last season but just who do you see as the Bombers' best option in 2002 - Aaron Henneman, Sean Wellman, Danny Jacobs or Dean Solomon. When you throw in the versatile Mark Bolton it is a tough call. But Essendon fans were adamant that Sean Wellman is the right man for the job.
