Ricky Dyson has agreed to join Essendon VFL as a part-time Assistant Coach for the 2025 season.

The 39-year-old returns to the club for the first time in five years, having served as an Assistant Coach for the VFL program in 2019 following a 114-game AFL career with the Bombers between 2004-‘12.

Following the conclusion of his AFL career in 2012, Dyson went on to play out a successful local footy stint with NFNL club Bundoora, winning a senior premiership as a playing coach in 2017 before joining Banyule as a Co-Coach for the 2021 season, where he helped lead the side to a flag in his second year at the helm.

Dyson will provide welcome experience for the VFL program next season under Senior Coach Dale Tapping, who was announced in the role last week as the Bombers confirmed their AFL coaching structure for next year.
