Essendon appears set to secure Melbourne's second round draft pick in exchange for midfielder Jake Melksham.
Although the draft order is subject to change, that pick is currently number 25 overall.
“Discussions with Melbourne were pretty fair and reasonable today,” List and Recruiting Manager Adrian Dodoro said.
“They’ll do their second round pick for Jake and we’ll accept that, paperwork to be lodged this week some time.
“There won’t be any issues with that one.”
Trade week does invite speculation about a raft of players across the competition.
Dodoro said suggestions veteran Brendon Goddard could be on the move were off the mark.
“They are totally unfounded. Brendon will be at Essendon next year,” he said.
