Essendon is looking at options to bolster its ruck division in 2016.
The loss of Tom Bellchambers because of injury half way through the season tested the side’s ruck depth.
List and Recruiting Manager Adrian Dodoro said the Club is looking at a number of potential options.
“I think it’s fair to say that we’ve had interest in all the ruckman that are available,” he told ABC radio.
“We’re not shying away from that.
“But again there is a cost involved with getting a guy to your Club.
“We have to weigh up what’s the best option for us.
“The best option might be just to go to the draft and draft a ruckman, or to pick up a guy that might be delisted from a club, or if there is an opportunity for a ruckman that is up and going to bring him into the club, it just depends on what you have to give up.”
Bellchambers carried an injury through the first half of the season, and then succumbed to a foot problem at the half way mark.
“We hold Tommy Bellchambers is high regard. He was very unfortunate this year,” Dodoro said.
“In the first game against the Swans he actually fractured his leg just before half time and that was a new injury and he played with that for a while.
“By the end of the year he required a little bit more surgery on his ankle.
“The medical indications are he’ll be ready to go first day of pre-season.
“He needs a ruck partner, no doubt about that.
“Whether that's Jonathan Giles or Shaun McKernan or it may be a new ruckman.
“We certainly think that Tommy Bellchambers has got a lot to offer.
“We’ve just got to get him fit and firing, he’s very important to our structure.”
