He’s the other name on everyones lips when it comes to the Crichton Medal and for very good reason.

Hooker has had a season to remember, but for many different reasons.

Coming into 2015 after a career defining season in the backline which culminated in All-Australian selection, the West Australian looked to simply pick up where he left off.

His early form saw him nullify some of the best forwards in the league and even sneak forward to kick the match winning goal against Hawthorn in round two (the famous ‘set play’).

However, with injury striking the team, the 26 year old would find himself in unfamiliar territory in the forward line as the primary target.

Always the club man, Hooker did not question the coaches’ instructions and went to work refining his skills at kicking goals instead of stopping them.

His great marking ability and ruthless contested nature saw him become a regular target up forward as he kicked 21 goals in less than half a season of football.

Did you know?  Cale Hooker had kicked eight goals from his first 892 career kicks. He has kicked 20 with his past 114.

The standout game for Hooker came in round 17 in the narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Hooker found his straps as he gathered 20 disposals, took eight marks, laid four important tackles along with kicking three goals.

Hooker’s work rate, dedication and team first mentality has often  been noted by the coaches.

His performances in defence last year saw him take second place in the Crichton Medal.

Will the man who hasn’t missed a game since 2013 take home the best and fairest this year?
