Essendon has no concerns over the availability of Mark Baguley for Saturday’s match against Brisbane.
The defender limped from the field early in the last quarter against Hawthorn, but returned later in the match.
“Bags got stomped on and sort of rolled his ankle in that motion,” High Performance Manager Justin Crow said.
“He’s fine – he did some running and some training both yesterday and today.
“We’ve got main skills training tomorrow and we’re not expecting him to be a problem.”
The match against the Hawks was played in warm conditions with the temperature still hovering around 24 degrees in the first half.
“This was a hard match – there were hot conditions and it was played at a fast tempo,” Crow said.
“We were really pleased with how we ran.
“The guys were sore after the game but after a couple of nights sleep they were really good today.
“We’re expecting the majority of the group to do pretty much all of training tomorrow.”
Matthew Leuenberger remains on track to be available for selection against Carlton next week.
The ruckman injured his hamstring in the final JLT Community Series match against Geelong earlier this month.
“He’s tracking as per the plan. He’ll start to do little bits and pieces with the main training group throughout the back end of this week and be looking to get enough work in to be available against Carlton,” Crow said.
Tom Bellchambers could also be ready for a return soon.
He’s played in two VFL practice matches, including last Saturday, after undergoing knee surgery earlier this year.
“Tom is progressing really well, he completed nearly the whole match,” Crow said.
“His fitness is building nicely, he’s starting to get some real momentum and he looks fit to me, so Tom will really start to put some pressure on for selection as well.”
