Chief Operating Officer, Travis Auld, said competition to secure Judd will be intense with a number of other Melbourne clubs also meeting the former Brownlow medalist.
""We would love to see Judd in the red and black next season and we will be putting forward a sensible but strong case - our members would expect nothing less,"" Auld said.
""On-field and off-field Judd would be an excellent addition to our Club but it will all come down to what we and other clubs have to offer him and the West Coast Eagles.
""Essendon's strengths are its stability, financial position, tradition of success, community engagement, exciting playing list and excellent on-field leadership. These are things that appeal to any player and we hope they put us in with a good show.""
Earlier this week Bombers' List Manager, Adrian Dodoro, said on the club website that Judd is clearly the best player available in this trade period and the club is discussing internally what to do to get him to Essendon.
""We are definitely interested in him now that he's become available. He would be extremely valuable to any side because he is such a champion player. When fit, he is the premier midfielder in the competition and, having just turned 24, still has his best years ahead of him,"" Dodoro said.
