LAST TIME WE MET:

It went down to the wire the last time we met late last year, with Port sneaking home with a 13-point win. The game was an exciting display from many of our youngsters with Kyle Langford and Jayden Laverde both impressive kicking two goals each. Brendon Goddard was also pivotal playing off the half-back line gathering 31 disposals, eight clearances and kicking a goal.

KEY PLAYERS:

With Port Adelaide missing both Schulz and Wingard from their forward line, it provides a great opportunity for Essendon’s defenders to really control the area and set up the play down the field. The run provided by Orazio Fantasia and Mark Baguley could be the difference in breaking the lines.

Zach Merrett will be looking to continue his dominance around the ground but will be sure to attract the attention of the opposition as they try to nullify his impact. The game will provide a true test for the youngster and hopefully allow him to develop another aspect of his game.

After a dominant aerial display last week against Melbourne, Joe Daniher will be looking to make the most of his opportunities in front of goal this week. Daniher’s ability to convert consistently will help Essendon put the pressure on the opposition.
