VFL Senior Coach Leigh Tudor assesses the output of our AFL-listed players from the loss to Box Hill.

Nik Cox

16 disposals, three marks, three tackles

Really good to see him playing. He presented well and worked in nicely with our defensive group, looked aggressive, and took some intercept marks. He looked physical in some pack contests, and he’s obviously a good ball user so it was really exciting to see a great return.

Rhett Montgomerie

19 disposals, 10 marks, eight rebound 50’s

Rhett has been playing really good footy. He’s putting together solid games consistently and defending well, beating opponents while also intercepting and chopping out his other defenders. Again, when we’ve got the ball, he’s joining in our attack and helping us move the ball out of defence.

Kaine Baldwin

12 disposals, five marks, three tackles

Kaine is so solid, you can trust him and the players love running out with him. He shows great leadership in the VFL for such a young fella, defends well and tries to get used when we go forward. He’s been such a good player for us down back.

Tex Wanganeen

10 disposals, six marks, one goal

A good showing from Tex, especially on review. He was a bit stiff, because he got himself to the right spot so many times, but we were just unable to get it in his hands. As a forward pressure player, he’s always looking to improve and stay active, so definitely some good signs there.

Pat Voss

17 disposals, six marks

‘Vossy’ had about seven or eight ‘AFL-like’ moments in the game that he’s been learning off training with Peter Wright and Sam Weideman, so seeing that transfer from the training track into games is really exciting. He didn’t quite finish off his work, but the pleasing thing was that he looked strong and played exactly how we wanted him to.

Alastair Lord

13 disposals, three marks, three tackles

‘Lordy’s' run and carry has been a highlight over the past month. He’s been impressive when we’re attacking and his starting points have been really good, concentrating on being a solid one-on-one player when he has to. He’s putting together a good run and getting more confident in his game.

Lewis Hayes

13 disposals, five marks, six rebound 50’s

‘Hayesy’ was good again, finding himself in solid positions to beat his man. This week he had a nice mix between his defence and attack with his rebounding and he’s learning a lot playing on some good players at this level. His whole game just gets better and better each week.

Cian McBride

Five disposals, eight tackles, eight hit-outs

He’s been solid down there for us and gave it his all again. He didn’t have a heap of the ball but still took a couple of intercept marks and laid some really big tackles, showing the pressure we want out of our defenders. He’s been competitive helping out in the ruck as well which has been a real bonus.
