Essendon captain Jobe Watson headlines fourEssendon players attending tonight's Brownlow Medal count at CrownPalladium.
The Bombers captain will be joined byteammates Dyson Heppell, Brent Stanton and Patrick Ryder at this evening’sevent.
The 27-year-old is one of the favourites totake out the award along with Richmond midfielder Trent Cotchin and Gold Coastcaptain Gary Ablett.
Watson said despite the favoritism he washoping to go along and enjoy the evening.
“I will go there to have a good time andjust see what happens,” he said on Channel Seven.
“It is a big night for the family and I amsure I will be nervous at some stage during the night.”
Watson’s current coach James Hird was thelast Essendon player to win the award when he shared the honour with Brisbanechampion Michael Voss in 1996.
If he wins the medal Watson will become thefirst player since Shane Crawford in 1999 to win the Brownlow from a teamfinishing outside of the top eight.
Watson is a proven vote getter finishing with 15 votes last season and 16 votes in 2010 despite a poor season from his team.
The Brownlow medal will be telecast on Channel Seven and FOX Footy from 8.15pm tonight.
