Zantuck missed an Essendon training session recently and was dropped from the Bombers’ side to play St Kilda. Needless to say, the coach was anything but impressed.
""He knows his career is on the line, it has been for 12 months. We gave him his second chance and that’s it,"" Sheedy said. ""It’s my job to let him know what I think. Pretty blatant, pretty blunt and pretty frank.""
""If you want to play professional sport then be professional about it. No one’s perfect, we all make mistakes but the less the better. Having said that, he is available for selection this week so we will see how he trains.
""I think every team has the same problems, sometimes it is just the youth of the day. If you went through each club I think it would be the same, its just up to the club to deal with that.""
The Bombers trained for 90 minutes tonight as they prepared for another big challenge against the in-form Kangaroos.
""We have got our own finals series going on at the moment We have played pretty well over the last six weeks, we’ve probably mucked up four quarters in all and that could have cost us a couple of wins,"" Sheedy said. ""We got ourselves into this position so we have to get ourselves out of it.
It is vital for the Bombers to win against the Kangaroos and build on last week’s win over the Saints.
""I know they have beaten us the last couple of years, but we have a lot of new players in this side,"" he said. ""The Kangaroos are one of the better sides in terms of creating goals out of the centre square and we will need to switch on in that area for certain,"" he said.
In a big boost to Essendon’s chances Dustin Fletcher will return to the side. Fletcher has not played since Round 11 and will most likely get the role on Kangaroos forward Nathan Thompson.
It will be a big game for the Fletcher family with Dustin and his father Ken Fletcher becoming only the second father / single son combination to reach a combination of 500 games in the history of the game joining the Silvagnis who played 551 games between them.
