Essendon's round 15 VFL match against Southport on Sunday will proceed as scheduled.
The Bombers will face the Sharks from 12pm AEST at Fankhauser Reserve (streamed live via Kayo Freebies), as one of six VFL teams returning to action in Queensland after last round's league-wide postponement.
All other VFL clubs will not play a match this weekend, with Victoria and New South Wales still in lockdown.
Meanwhile, Essendon's VFL preliminary final against Geelong at Windy Hill will have to wait another week following the extension of Victoria's lockdown.
The prelim was originally scheduled for July 17, with the winner to face Collingwood in the VFLW Grand Final.
As a result of the postponement, the VFLW Grand Final will not be played before the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, which is set for Tuesday.
The AFL has written to all AFLW clubs to declare that any player drafted must be allowed and encouraged to complete the VFLW season before joining their new team.
The AFL is committed to working through the final two games and awarding a 2021 VFLW premier.
