Essendon Football Club is pleased to confirm the re-signing of Jake Stringer, with the star forward agreeing to terms on a new three-year deal.
The contract extension will see the No.25 remain at the Bombers until at least the end of 2024.
Stringer was at his electric best in the Bombers’ recent 13-point win over Hawthorn, registering four goals, 29 disposals and seven tackles in the round 14 clash at UTAS Stadium.
It marked the start of a scintillating run of form for the 27-year-old, who has averaged 24 disposals and booted 16 goals since round 14 with more time in midfield.
Stringer said he was rapt to sign on with the Bombers.
“I was never going anywhere else. It’s great to get the contract done and I’m grateful to the club for the opportunity,” Stringer said.
“I love this football club. We’re really building something that’s going to be pretty special to be a part of. ‘Truck’ (Ben Rutten) has been terrific for me this season and the boys are as determined as ever to take this club back to where we want to be. We still have a long way to go, but I’m excited to play my part in that as one of the older guys helping to developing the young, exciting group we have.”

General manager of list and recruiting Adrian Dodoro said Stringer’s re-signing was another show of faith in the Bombers’ direction.
“Jake has had a terrific season to date, and we’re really pleased to have reached this outcome with both Jake and his management,” Dodoro said.
“Jake is to be commended for his work, not only for his clear talent on the field, but for his attitude and approach to leadership off the field this season. He has been encouraging and supporting the development of our young forwards, in particular the likes of Harrison Jones, and we’ve seen a lot of growth from Jake as both a player and a person in recent years.
“He is as driven as anyone to take this club forward, and I know our members and supporters are looking forward to watching more electric performances from Jake in the years to come.”
Stringer’s re-signing follows those of Darcy Parish and Zach Merrett in recent weeks, alongside Devon Smith, Will Snelling, Mason Redman, Harrison Jones, Brayden Ham, Nick Bryan and Alec Waterman.
