After completing his 12 days in the high altitude chamber, Essendon midfielder Heath Hocking will begin ramping up his pre-season training.
Under the guidance of the club’s high performance staff, Hocking slept in the high altitude chamber in an attempt to maintain his aerobic fitness after not being able to participate fully in training due to an ongoing groin problem.
Hocking believes that he will begin to see the results of the program once he returns to full training.
“Fitness wise I feel pretty good considering I haven’t done much running,” Hocking said
“It’s hard to say, but at the moment I’m feeling pretty fit. If I come back to train I’ll have a higher (fitness) base than what I would if I didn’t do it.”
Spending almost 18 hours at the club everyday, Hocking was grateful for all the support he received from staff, friends and the Essendon fans.
“It was a challenging 12 days, obviously being at the club for 18 hours a day.I got through it and hopefully the benefits will start to come through.”
